A beloved wing spot opens soon in Warner Robins. And two more are coming after it

New Wingstops are coming to Middle Georgia, with the first expected to open next week in the Boniare community of Warner Robins.

‘The fast-growing global brand is known for its classic and boneless chicken wings with 11 different sauces, its chicken sandwich, tenders and sides including fresh hand-cut fries and Cajun fried corn.

The new Macon location is expected to open within 10 days of the new Warner Robin store, and a new Perry location later this year, said Mike Mooreland, vice president for operations for GSRS Restaurants, the largest franchise group for the Wingstop brand.

“It’s an underdeveloped market,” Moreland said of expanding in Middle Georgia. “The demographic fits for what we’re looking for to go in and build a restaurant.”

Also, the two other Wingstops in Middle Georgia, which the company now owns, are performing well, he said.

“The growth of Wingstop has really been unprecedented versus any other brand out there the last couple of years,” Moreland said.

    Other locations

The new Wingstop in Macon at 156 Tom Hill Sr. Blvd., Suite 246, is in the Shops at North Park.

The new Perry store will be in the Kroger shopping center at 1367 Sam Nunn Blvd. The new Perry store, which is undergoing remodeling, may open as early mid-to-late October, Mooreland said.

Each of the new stores is expected to employee about 25 to 35 people, he said.

The other Wingspots in Middle Georgia are at 2674 Watson Blvd., Suite 340, in Centerville and at 4634 Presidential Parkway in Macon. The Macon wing joint was the first Wingspot to open in Middle Georgia in 2016.

Boss Wings III, LLC and rapper and Maybach Music Group founder Rick Ross orginally opened the Wingspot off Presidential Parkway in Macon, according to Telegraph archives. Ross orginally was behind the Centerville store also. GSRS Restaurants purchased both of those franchises about 1 -½ years ago, Moreland said.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Wingstop Inc. operates and franchises more than 2,250 locations worldwide, according to the company’s website.

GSRS Restaurants has nearly 200 Wingstops across the country, including in Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey, Moreland said.

The company expects to open its 200th Wingstop in North Carolina in early September, according to Moreland. The company’s five-year plan is to have 400 total Wingstop locations open, he said.

“Wingspot is a hot brand because we’ve got great chicken,” Moreland said.
