Macedonian Ethnic Festival returns for 22nd year first weekend of August
SYRACUSE N.Y. — From August 2 to August 4, the St. George Macedonian Orthodox Church is bringing back its annual Macedonian Ethnic Festival!. The festival celebrates Macedonian cuisine, wine, music, and traditions. The festival will feature free admission, free Macedonian food and drinks, as well as music and church tours.

CHARLOTTE: Syracuse enters the 2024 season with a lot of new faces in new places. The Dino Babers era has given way to the Fran Brown era in upstate New York. In addition to a new head coach, the Orange will welcome transfer quarterback Kyle McCord into the fold. McCord is coming off a successful season at Ohio State where the Mount Laurel, NJ, native threw for 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns.
SU dome renovations continue with new state grant
Just over a month before football season starts at Syracuse University, dome renovations continue as new chair back seats are installed. The seat renovations are the last piece of a wider $120 million dome renovation plan. New York Assembly Speaker Carl Hastie and Assembly Member Bill Magnarelli announced a new $3 million grant for the JMA Wireless Dome this week. Magnarelli said the grant is meant to help make up for some increasing construction costs.

Man paid $50 dollars to attack kidnapping victim found guilty of assault and robbery
Syracuse, N.Y. – A man who was paid $50 to attack a man who was later held for days and tortured was found guilty Friday of participating in the brutal assault. Quincy Williams, 29, was convicted by the jury of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery, prosecutor Alphonse Williams said Friday.
Shots fired in Syracuse tripled in a week: 8 injured in 5 shootings
Syracuse, N.Y. -- The number of shots fired incidents in Syracuse tripled in a week and appear to stem from beefs between rival gangs, police said. In seven days, there were 36 shots fired incidents in Syracuse, according to Syracuse Police COMPSTAT reports. That’s compared to 12 shots fired incidents the week before.
Syracuse native Symir Torrence signs with an overseas pro basketball team
Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse native Symir Torrence will play professional basketball in Finland next season. Torrence said Friday he had been in contact with the team’s coach, Konsta Mastomaki, and will play for LoKoKo Bisons Loimaa in the Finnish Korisliiga league. Syracuse University plans a new dormitory impacting a historic rose garden and mansion
Syracuse University’s plans to build a massive new dormitory directly across from the historic rose garden is getting blowback. According to Syracuse.com, the building on Ostrom Avenue and University Place will house 703 beds.
