Dandies rebuilding ranks to promote, serve Frontier Days
Halley Redman had a list of things she wanted to implement when she was hired as director of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Dandies. The mounted equestrian drill team had a prominent role promoting CFD when she was a member of the group as a teenager, and Redman wants to help the group regain its footing. However, her appointment as director came relatively close to the 127th anniversary edition of CFD, and Redman focused on getting it across the finish line before implementing change.

Barrel racing at Cheyenne Frontier Days has long been an adventure in contestants’ eyes. The composition of the ground itself created difficult footing for horses, while the third barrel being out in the middle of the arena created depth perception issues for them. Both helped make the competition a bit of a crapshoot.
Family ties continue: Dr. Kent Kleppinger retires after 40 years in pediatrics
As his retirement date drew near, pediatrician Dr. Kent Kleppinger received a rather frantic phone call from a father in Cheyenne. “I had a really good family that kind of grew up in this practice,” Kleppinger recalled. “They moved to Cheyenne and the dad calls and says, ‘Is Klemp going to be there ’til five?’ I was going to finish up, leave early, but I said I’d stay. I thought maybe his kid was sick or something.”

CHEYENNE – Taylour Latham estimates that she hadn’t entered a rodeo as a breakaway roper in nearly 18 months. The Cheyenne cowgirl cited a lack of time and lack of money as reasons for her hiatus. She found enough money and the time to enter Cheyenne Frontier Days this week.
LEGION BASEBAL: Sixers score late to top EnFuego
CHEYENNE – A pair of late runs in the fifth and sixth innings helped propel Cheyenne Post 6 to a 2-1 win over EnFuego at the All-American World Championship on Friday. The Sixers let up the first run of the game in the first inning, but slammed the door shut on the defensive end for the rest of the game. The Sixers outhit EnFuego 5-3 in the contest.
Church hosting contemporary Christian music concert
SHERIDAN — First Congregational UCC Church is hosting the Last Friday at First free concert featuring “Mark and Cisco” from Cheyenne. The concert will feature contemporary Christian music and donations will go toward Sheridan College music scholarships. The event will take place at the First Congregational UCC Church at 100 W. Works St. from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
