Mudcats Split Tight Doubleheader at Warren County, Winning Game Two
The Chillicothe Mudcats split their final scheduled doubleheader of the season, losing game one, but winning game two against the Warren County Cropdusters on the road Saturday night. The Cropdusters won game one in extra innings, with the score finishing 3-2 in Warren County’s favor in eight innings. The Mudcats won game two by a final score of 5-3, with both games being played on the campus of Simpson College in Indianola, IA.
Iowans take kayaks down flooded city streets
INDIANOLA, Iowa — KCCI viewer Gentry Burton shared photos of her adult children kayaking down a flooded Indianola street this week. The Warren County town saw about 5 inches of rain Tuesday as strong storms pushed across the state. The storms prompted several tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings, as well as flooding and flash flooding in a number of areas.

Iowa county not expecting casino plans with moratorium lifted
INDIANOLA, Iowa — A two-year moratorium for new casino licenses in the state expired on Monday. The moratorium was almost extended, but the bill failed to make it out of the Iowa Senate this last session. All eyes are now on counties and cities that may plan to move forward with a referendum vote, or seeking approval from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
Flash Flooding Comes with Severe Storms Tuesday
Multiple rounds of heavy rain locally caused flash flooding in several communities Tuesday. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air from 2:55 to 5:15 p.m. for three severe thunderstorm warnings in Marion and Warren Counties. While those threats largely didn’t cause damage, the heavy rain the came with those storms dumped 2-3″ of rain in an about an hour after many of those same locations received 1-3″ in the morning.
