VICKSBURG, Miss. – Two suspects connected to the string of shootings earlier this month appeared before a judge for their initial hearing today. Wilmar DeAndre Johnson, 23, and Willie Johnson, 24, both who claim an address on Greenbriar in Warren County, Mississippi, stood before Judge Southerland. Maben hosts “All Roads Lead to Maben” Juneteenth Celebration

SUMMARY: The Maben Mayoral Health Council and Controller 4-H Club collaborated to host the “All Roads Lead to Maben” Juneteenth celebration at W.O. Shivers Park in Maben, Mississippi. The event featured an ATV ride, jumpers, vendors, and local entertainment. Coordinator Rose Coffey Graham highlighted the significance of celebrating Juneteenth in Maben to honor local history and awareness. Although Juneteenth was on a Wednesday, the celebration took place on the weekend, aiming to set a precedent for an annual event. This marks the first time Maben has hosted such an event.

Port expansion project could be complete by 2027
VICKSBURG, Miss. – Mayor Flaggs joined Super Talk Radio’s Paul Gallo on Monday to discuss the new Vicksburg Port Expansion Project that has been in the works since 2018. The Warren County Port Commission announced last year that Warren County now controls all the parcels needed for the Port Expansion Project south of Interstate I-20. Warren County and the City of Vicksburg worked with the Port Commission to acquire over 1,700 acres along the river. The project began in fall 2018 when the state legislature allocated funds to Vicksburg to explore the feasibility of expanding port capabilities in the region.
