Waldo Falkener was the son of Warren County native Henry Hall Falkener, and Margaret Mitchell Falkener. Henry Hall Falkener was instrumental in the founding of what is now North Carolina A&T State University and was a professor there for some time. Margaret Mitchell Falkener founded the Music Department at NC A&T.
