Concrete patching work on part of I-75 in Oakland County begins, prompting 10-day closure
(CBS DETROIT) - Michigan Department of Transportation crews will begin a concrete patching project on a portion of I-75 in Oakland County this week, officials said. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's office announced that this project, along with three others, will begin this week as she continues to "fix the damn roads" throughout the state. The other projects include resurfacing on I-196 in Allegan County and pavement sealing on M-553 in Marquette County. These projects are expected to support 243 jobs. 10 candidates vie for four open Algonac City Council seats
Algonac voters on Aug. 6 will narrow the field of candidates vying for four open city council seats from 10 to eight. The primary ballot will ask voters to select not more than four candidates, with eight moving on to the general election this fall. The seats up for reelection are four-year terms and currently belong to Michael Bembas, Cathy Harris, Raymond Martin and Dale Williams, who replaced council member Corey Blair after he resigned in May.

Auto supplier Gestamp gets state incentives for new plant in Chesterfield Twp.
An international automotive supplier is getting state support for a project that will bring a new plant and hundreds of jobs to Chesterfield Township. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation recently announced new incentives for Gestamp, a Spanish company with its North American headquarters founded in Troy. Gestamp North America Inc. is planning expansions at three of its Michigan manufacturing operations in Mason, Lapeer and Chelsea. The new 460,000-square-foot factory on Sierra Drive, near 23 Mile and South Foster roads in Chesterfield Township, will help to further serve new OEM business and expand the company’s presence in the state, the MEDC said.
