Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone to appear at Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival
Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone will be in Vermont in August to screen a trio of films at the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival. Stone will show and discuss three of his movies – “Platoon,” “Wall Street” and one more to be announced, according to a news release from the festival. The Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival takes place Aug. 21-25.
Rhode Island man critically injured in Vermont officer-involved shooting
BURKE, Vt. (WCAX) - A nearly 60-mile police chase ended in an officer-involved shooting in the Northeast Kingdom that left a Rhode Island man critically injured. Vermont State Police say it happened Sunday evening when they were notified that a wanted Rhode Island man may be headed north. Troopers say there was an arrest warrant out for Brendan Sackal, 30, of Hopkinton, Rhode Island, for possession of high-capacity firearm magazines.

14 cameras are busting speeders on several roads in New York State this week. The radar was installed as part of legislation, signed into law in September 2022.
