WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The issue of reinstating traffic signals at three intersections in Warren was one item discussed during the city’s traffic commission meeting Wednesday.

Erik Hoover’s Cockeye BBQ and Creamery is located at the corner of Parkman Road and Denison Drive in Warren.

“It’s a fairly busy road, and it is now a headache,” Hoover said. “If you ask me personally, I prefer the light. I preferred it when it was in existence.”

A motion before the city’s Traffic Commission dealt with replacing that light, plus the lights at the intersections of East Market Street at Country Club Drive and Tod Avenue and Palmyra Road.

“I’m a good driver with a good driving record — anxiety goes up when I have to figure acceleration to move out into traffic. Everybody should drive like they got good sense. We know common sense isn’t that common,” said Farrah Jones, of Warren.

The signals at all three intersections were either put in flashing mode or removed following the results of a traffic study a few years ago.

Warren City Engineer Paul Makosky and Law Director Enzo Cantalamessa recommend keeping the signals out of operation, pointing to the traffic study, accident statistics and the city’s potential liability should an accident happen if the lights were reinstated.

“The liability perspective cannot be ignored,” Cantalamessa said.

Councilwoman Tiffany Stanford motioned to bring it to a vote. The motion died for a lack of a second.
