WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The superintendent and CEO of Warren City Schools has been named Superintendent of the Year, which also comes with a grant for the district.

The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation gave Steve Chiaro the 2024 Ohio Superintendent of the Year Award on Thursday. It is the highest accolade the foundation awards.

This recognition comes with a $10,000 grant from the foundation for the school district.

There was a celebration banquet in his honor at the annual Jennings Educators Summit in Warrensville, Ohio.

Warren City Schools Board of Education President Patricia Limperos nominated Chiaro for the award, saying in a news release that he “embraces and exemplifies [the foundation’s] core values of deep learning and excellent teaching.”

She went on to say Chiaro supports the district’s continued academic improvement and believes every student deserves a chance to excel and be prepared for a successful future.

The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation plans on visiting Warren City Schools sometime in the upcoming school year.

Chiaro has been with Warren City Schools for 28 years — as a teacher, principal, supervisor of school improvement, associate superintendent and superintendent/CEO.
