WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – For over 50 years, the Warren Greek Fest has brought families together to celebrate its heritage.

The annual St. Demetrios Greek Fest in Warren began Wednesday and continues throughout the week. It’s full of classic Greek food like gyros and pastries plus music and dancing, and of course, carnival rides and games.

Organizers say it’s all about sharing their culture and heritage.

“I mean, we’ve been doing this for like over 50 years, so it’s a lot of prep a lot of the kids know from growing up,” said Parish Council President Steve Zervas.

The Greek Orthodox Church also keeps its culture alive by reaching out to people and sharing its heritage with the community.

“I mean the objective is to get people to come and say, ‘You know what, we want to be part of that organization or we want to be part of that worship and fellowship with the community.’ So we continue to strive to get people to come in and join our parish,” said Louie Vardavas.

The Warren Greek Festival goes on until 10 p.m. Wednesday night, and continues Thursday from 4-10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 4-11 p.m.; and Sunday 1-9 p.m.
