Warren Family Mission back-to-school bookbag giveaway growing each year

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Warren Family Mission is preparing for its back-to-school giveaway but the organization is still looking for donations of school supplies to give to children in need.

The Mission is collecting backpacks, binders, folders, pencils, pens and more to get the kids ready to head back to school.

Donations can be dropped off at the Warren Family Mission building on Tod Avenue.

Monetary donations are also being accepted in-person or online so organizers can purchase the supplies needed to fill any gaps.

The Mission plans to give away 500 bookbags filled with school supplies to children in grades K-12.

“It seems like every year, the need gradually grows and every year, it seems like we run out quicker so we’re doing what we can do. There’s other bookbag giveaways out there but this year, we’ve chosen to do 500,” said Dominic Mararri, with the Mission.

Donations will be accepted for the school supply drive through August 1.

The giveaway itself will take place on August 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
