WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Warren Community Amphitheatre is hosting its first boxing event next week.

“Fight Night at the Amp” will take place on Friday, August 2.

There will be about 10-12 bouts with the ring right on the stage. It’ll showcase a number of boxers, some of whom are local, including Zion Hensley who’s ranked first in the nation.

Already, 450 tickets have been sold for the event and more are available.

Tickets can be purchased at the Sunrise Inn, Eastwood Mall, and at the gate.

“There really hasn’t been a lot of boxing in Trumbull County in I don’t even know how long,” said Ken Haidaris, organizer. “I just think it introduces it. It gives these kids a place to showcase their talents.”

Former Valley boxing champion Kelly Pavlik said he want to increase interest in the sport.

“We’re trying to revive boxing again. Boxing is starting to take off nationally, and obviously, it has been worldwide, but boxing was a big part of history,” Pavlik said.

Doors open at 6 p.m. on Aug. 2 with the first bell at 7 p.m.
