WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The plan to remove nine dams along the Mahoning River took another step forward on Wednesday. The Summit Street Dam in Warren is now being demolished.

The project — partially funded by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s office — is part of a plan to remove nine dams along the Mahoning River, opening up 32 miles of unobstructed river.

Two of the nine dams on the Mahoning River have already been removed.
