Small businesses in the Portland area feel more financial pressure than those elsewhere in the country, according to a recent survey by the Federal Reserve. Portland businesses are more likely to be feeling the impacts of inflation, the survey found, and are more likely to have trouble finding staff and supplies. More rate their financial condition as poor.

In a qualifying stunner, Santino Ferrucci outdueled the championship contenders at Portland International Raceway to capture the first pole position of his IndyCar career. The A.J. Foyt Racing driver turned a lap of 58.2046 seconds in the No. 14 Dallara-Chevrolet to deliver the first pole to the team since 2014.

Friday, July 19th, was a special occasion at Westmoreland’s Union Manor, on S.E. 23rd Avenue just north of Bybee. Two of the residents of the nonprofit senior apartment building – Rena Popivchak, and Ruby Smith – were celebrating their 101st birthdays in the ground floor Multipurpose Room.
