Kirbyville church helps with back to school supplies
Kirbyville Assembly of God has hosted a back-to-school event for the past three years. This year, Pastor Shawn Monclova and his wife Christina decided to move the event to Kirbyville Junior High to accommodate a larger crowd and make it more of a community event. Recognizing the increasing needs of the community, Pastor Monclova partnered with the Kirbyville Area Chamber of Commerce and received contributions from 11 local churches and organizations.
Diboll woman gets 10 years for 2019 crash that killed passenger
LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Diboll woman arrested in 2019 for intoxication manslaughter received 10 years’ confinement Thursday. Kila Leann Janes, 28, was charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle and intoxicated assault with a vehicle after the May 7 death of her passenger, Clinton Earl Holman. On Thursday, Judge Robert K. Inselmann sentenced Janes to 10 years in jail.

Human remains discovered on College Street in Beaumont, investigation underway
BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police discovered human remains in the 1300 block of College Street on July 22, 2024. The remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, making identification challenging, according to a press release from the Beaumont Police Department. The deceased is believed to be a Caucasian or Hispanic male, aged 30 to 40 years, with a height between 5'10" and 6'. Notably, he was missing a tooth on his front bottom jaw, which is believed to have been lost before death. Forensic analysis suggests the individual died approximately two weeks ago.
