Lakewood Summer Meltdown Is a Big Party in the Street
The annual Lakewood Summer Meltdown is a big block party, just for fun and community, presented by LakewoodAlive and sponsored by Melt Bar and Grilled, back for its 16th year. It’s free and everyone is welcome; you don’t have to be from Lakewood. And it’s a great chance for those who aren’t to discover what Lakewood has to offer. It takes place in the heart of downtown Lakewood on Detroit Avenue between Marlowe and Arthur avenues, where you’ll find loads of food vendors, a beer garden, live music, games and other activities including a skate park. Best of all, the Water Moose giant sprinkler will be back from 4-8pm, so make sure the kids wear their bathing suits!

Downtown Willoughby homicide suspect arraigned on murder charge
The man suspected in the July 13 homicide in downtown Willoughby was arraigned July 15 via video conference at the Willoughby Municipal Court on the charge of murder. The suspect has been identified by the Willoughby Police Department as Fernando Alejo, a 23-year-old Painesville resident. According to Willoughby Police Chief James Schultz, Alejo was not given a bond and will be held at the Lake County Jail until his next court appearance on July 18 at the municipal court.
