Furry Friends Friday - Matteo & Malachi
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Matteo and Malachi are 2-month-old Boykin Spaniel/Jack Russell Terrier mix puppies up for adoption at Pawmetto Lifeline. A man’s dogs had an “accidental” litter of 8 puppies. He brought all 8 puppies to a very overcrowded municipal shelter right before Tropical Storm Debby hit. This shelter was struggling with providing proper care, staffing and resources for the animals already in their care. Still, the man threatened to dump them in the storm unless the shelter took them in. Pawmetto Lifeline pulled them to provide relief for this shelter in their time of need and help these wonderful puppies find forever homes!

Body found behind Columbia grocery store identified, new details announced in death
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities are providing new details on the death of a man whose body was found behind a Richland County grocery store. The Columbia Police Department announced on Friday that a death in the 5100 block of Fairfield Road considered suspicious has been ruled accidental by the Richland County Coroner's Office. Police began investigating the death behind the Food Lion on Fairfield Road on Aug. 8 after lawn care workers found his body in a wooded area behind the store.
Decorated retired SC Major General laid to rest at Fort Jackson National Cemetery
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A retired U.S. Army Reserve Major General from South Carolina was laid to rest on Wednesday. Major General (R) George W. Goldsmith, Jr. passed away on Tuesday at the age of 95. Goldsmith was a decorated member of the military and served as Chairman of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee.
