“First time up here competing,” Ken, a pitmaster at House of Que, told 12 News. “So just kind of out here with I think about 20 plus, other pitmasters from New England and a little further out, and some folks are from Texas came up to join us as well.”

“We’re a great community of folks who just like to have fun and enjoy what we do,” he added.

During this competition, which took place at the Little Rhody Beagle Club, chefs cooked up chicken, ribs, pork and brisket.

The food was judged on a scale of one to 10 based on taste, tenderness and appearance.

All the money raised from those who entered will benefit Friends of Jake , a non-profit organization.
