    Jays continue to improve marks at Cougar Relays

    Thursday evening, the Waseca track and field team joined seven of the top programs in the region at Mankato East High School for the annual Cougar relays. With several top finishes and PR improvements throughout the event, the Jays boys and girls teams each earned seventh place in the total team competition.

    In the girls 100m hurdles, Brooklyn Flatau set a PR time of 15.64 to finish first overall while Vivian Mader set a PR time of 17.41 to claim seventh overall. Flatau then finished third overall in the 300m hurdles with a PR time of 49.63.

    The 4x200m relay team of Sarah Haley, Gabriela Lopez, Camila Marquez and Reese Ludwig finished fourth with a time of 1:58.82. In the Distance Medley Relay race, the team of Callie Dufault, Bella Wikan, Maren Schimming and Stella Omtvedt finished third with a time of 13:22.41.

    Kalea Sartori finished fifth in the shot put with a top throw of 33 feet and 3.5 inches before claiming second in the discus with a throw of 102’7”. Haley, Marquez and Savanna Vagts finished tied for sixth in the high jump with a top clear of 4’6”.

    Brooklyn Flatau claimed fifth in the pole vault with a PR clear of 8’ before she claimed first in the long jump with a top jump of 16’6.5”

    Highlights for the boys began in the 4x800m relay race with the team of Isaac Feldkamp, Tristan Godwin, Tovin Grannis and Wyatt Hager claiming fourth with a time of 9:03.42. In the discus, Javonn Rodney claimed seventh with a throw of 121’3”.

    William Mansfield finished second in the pole vault with a PR clear of 13’6”.

    The Waseca track and field team is scheduled to return to action Tuesday, May 7, when it travels to Jordan H.S. to compete in the MSHSL Section True Team Meet. Events are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
