Thursday evening, the Waseca golf team hosted Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton and New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva in a three-team showdown at Waseca Lakeside Club. The Bluejay girls team finished first with a total round of 206 while the Bulldog boys team (165) finished first followed by Waseca (169) with just a four stroke differential.
In the girls competition, Emma Keith led the way with a round of 47 to finish first overall followed by Mia Kanewischer with a round of 49 to claim second. JWP’s Hope Dimmel, the only girls golfer competing for the Bulldogs, finished third overall with a round of 50.
Madison Rasche (54) and Lexi Kanewischer (56) rounded out the team scorers for Waseca finishing fifth and sixth overall while Elli Hoban finished seventh with a round of 60.
In the boys competition, the Bluejays Cody Vagts finished first overall with a round of 37 while JWP’s Logan Thell and Jeffery Simonson tied for second with rounds of 38. Waseca’s Hunter Anderson finished fourth with a round of 40 followed by the Bulldog’s Steven Dimmel with a round of 41.
The Bluejays’ final team scorers were Braiden Nelson and Brody Dufault with rounds of 46 while JWP’s Carter Miller rounded out his teams scoring with a 48. Also competing for Waseca were Max Bodenweiser (8th, 48) and Preston Miller (10th, 50) while Tyler Nelson also competed for the Bulldogs, finishing with a round of 64.
The Bluejays are scheduled to return to action Tuesday, May 21, when they travel to Le Sueur Country Club for a match while JWP travels to North Links GC to compete in the Gopher Conference Tournament Thursday, May 23.
