The Waseca County Fairgrounds was just one of the few places you could find new treasures last weekend, as the citywide garage sale in Waseca took place from Friday, May 17 to Sunday, May 19.

The Waseca County 4-H hosted its annual garage sale at the fairgrounds, with many donated items being on sale. This was their biggest garage sale yet after they started having them after the pandemic.

“We had a lot of stuff,” said 4-H volunteer Crystal Myers Sunday. “We had stuff that we couldn’t store in this building until today.”

On Friday and Saturday, there were many items on the floor under the table in boxes due to there not being space for them.

4-H students and volunteers worked hard on Thursday night to get everything organized and into the building in order to be ready for the sale on Friday. Most of the clothes were unorganized due to it being impossible for the volunteers to organize them by size because there were so many.

While items were marked with prices on Friday and Saturday, shoppers on Sunday were able to get as much as they wanted with it being a free will donation day.

Kathy Flogstad and Jeannie Waters went through many pairs of shoes that were at the sale to donate to their church.

“We’re volunteering to take stuff their hands,” Flogstad said about the shoes and the Waseca County 4-H.

All of the donations from the weekend went straight to Waseca County’s 4-H program. A lot of items were sold on Sunday, but there were still a lot of stuff left for 4-H members and volunteers to once again box up and move out of the building.

With the garage sale being their biggest one yet, Waseca County 4-H’s sale next year could even top it with having a head start from all the stuff that wasn’t sold this year.
