    Bluejays close season with 4 total podium finishes

    A total of six Waseca track and field athletes made the trip to St. Michael-Albertville H.S. Friday and Saturday morning to compete in the MSHSL Class AA championships.

    Brooklyn Flatau, Damarius Russell, Kalea Sartori and the boys 4x100m relay team of Russell, Carson Ohnstad, Jordan Johnston and Bennett Ludwig all earned podium finishes for the Jays to highlight the weekend.

    Flatau competed in a pair of events and earned her top finish coming in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.39 in the finals to claim fifth place overall. She also competed in the long jump and earned 25th in the competition with a top mark of 16 feet and 1.25 inches.

    Sartori finished the season by claiming ninth in shot put as she posted a PR throw of 36’9” to qualify for the finals and reach the podium.

    Russell meanwhile, competed in a total of three events and in the 100m dash finals, he claimed ninth with a time of 11.11 after qualifying for the finals with a time of 10.88. He then earned 19th in the long jump with a top leap of 19’8.5”.

    The final event for Waseca athletes was the 4x100m relay race which saw the squad of Ohnstad, Johnston, Ludwig and Russell qualify for the finals with a season-best time of 43.10. In the final race, the team posted a time of 43.84 to finish ninth.

    The girls team ultimately finished 35th with a total of six points while the boys team finished 47th with a combined score of 2.
