Steele County separating HR service from MNPrairie
After providing human resources service to the Minnesota Prairie County Alliance for nearly a decade, Steele County has opted to discontinue that partnership. Chef Ann Kim’s Korean American Restaurant Will Close Following Unionization

Chef Ann Kim’s eponymous Uptown Minneapolis restaurant, Kim’s, will close on Friday, August 30, “due to ongoing financial losses,” per a statement from Kim’s restaurant group, Vestalia Hospitality. Kim declined to comment further on the reason for the closure.
State Patrol – Minnesota Man Killed While Walking on Busy Highway
Blaine, MN (KROC-AM News) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early this morning in the Twin Cities. The State Patrol says the deadly incident occurred around 5:45 AM in Blaine. Few details have been released, but the preliminary report from the State Patrol indicates the victim was walking in the lanes of traffic on Highway 47 in the Anoka County city when he was hit by an SUV.

Downtown bar opens without the booze
A new venue that aims to have the same atmosphere as a friendly neighborhood bar – but without the alcohol – opened recently at 24 7th St. W., in the Hamm building. Lucille’s Bottle Shop and Tasting Room offers non-alcoholic beers, wines, spirits and mocktails and events such as mixology, and wine and cheese nights. The space can also be rented for private events.
Wheelchair accessible playground built in Mendota Heights
More than 150 volunteers gathered at Somerset Heights Elementary in late July and early August to help build a playground for children of all abilities. It was supposed to be built next year after extensive fundraising efforts but everything changed in April when an anonymous donor dubbed the “fairy godmother” pledged $200,000 to make it a reality this summer.
