Angela Stroud is running to be the first representative in the newly drawn 73rd Assembly District.

The official campaign launch will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at StageNorth in Washburn. Retired Representative Beth Meyers and Senator Janet Bewley will introduce Stroud to the Chequamegon Bay.

Stroud says that the new 73rd, which runs from Superior to Bad River, and extends just south of Highway 2, will allow the Lake Superior watershed to organize around shared commitments, including protecting the lake.

Democrats across the state are energized by the new maps that Gov. Tony Evers signed into law in February, ending a decades-long gerrymander of the Wisconsin legislature.

According to Stroud, “These maps will finally allow us to have fair representation in Madison. From public school funding to expanding access to healthcare, it’s finally time for Wisconsin values to be reflected in our state laws and in our state budget.”
