ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals are closing in on the start of training camp, and leading up to the first on-ice session on Thursday, players have been making their way back to D.C. and putting in work to prepare.
Alex Ovechkin, along with Pierre-Luc Dubois, Matt Roy, Jakob Chychrun Jakub Vrana, Dylan Strome and nearly all other roster players, along with prospects like Ivan Miroshnichenko, Ethen Frank and Ayo Adeniye, have been taking part in informal skates leading up to the start of training camp.
The skates started to ramp up in August with Dubois, Roy and more arriving in the District for the informal on-ice workouts, which at the time, were led by John Carlson and Scott Murray. Then, in September, Ovechkin, along with Tom Wilson and more familiar faces, joined the mix.
Washington's informal workout sessions included drills and scrimmages, along with skate test preparation and shooting work. Goaltender Logan Thompson has been skating with the team for over a month, while Charlie Lindgren arrived more recently after a busy offseason training that included a stint with Team USA at Worlds.
Here is a photo gallery from all the action from informal skates.

Standouts from the skate include Ovechkin, who had an extra jump in his step on Tuesday after leaving Monday's informal skate early. Dubois has also looked strong over the last few weeks, while Jakub Vrana's impressed with his speed.
