Wellman, Kalona Awarded City Grants From WCRF
A quarterly event since 2006, the Washington County Riverboat Foundation announced this week their Municipal Grants. Receiving some of that second-quarter funding were the cities of Kalona and Wellman. A grant in the amount of $61,972.13 went to Kalona, while Wellman was awarded $36,356.99. Washington Woman Arrested on Felony Drug Warrants
On June 29th at approximately 10:49 pm the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Cedar Rapids Police Department that they had a subject in custody that was wanted in Washington County. They arrested 49-year-old Wendee Chalupa of Washington on three counts of controlled substance violation, a Class C Felony, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, a Class D Felony, and failure to affix drug stamp, a Class D Felony. Bond was set at $40,000 and extradition arrangements were made with the Washington County Jail. Chalupa later bonded out. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
Latest Addition Announced To WCHC Kalona Clinic
Washington County Hospital and Clinics announced this week that Malhar Goré, MD, will be joining the Kalona Clinic as a primary care provider. Dr. Goré earned his Doctorate from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, then completed his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he served as Co-chief resident. In his more than 33 years of experience, Dr. Goré has held numerous roles in private clinics and emergency departments across Iowa. Goré also served as team physician for Iowa State University athletics.
