    Explore Tualatin Valley boosts summer events with new award funding

    Ahead of Washington County's packed summer schedule, Explore Tualatin Valley is channeling $25,000 into nine of the region's most iconic events.

    The destination marketing organization announced the recipients of the new Tualatin Valley Inspiration Event Award Monday, June 24. A new initiative as a part of Explore Tualatin Valley’s latest investment strategy, the award aims to draw visitors to the area by directing funding to local attractions that showcase, “a blend of urban sophistication and rural authenticity.”

    The awarded events span the county, ranging from historic car shows to full-blown food festivals:

    Latino Cultural Festival hosted by the Washington County Chamber of CommerceDowntown Hillsboro Block Party hosted by Hillsboro Downtown Partnership Concours d'Elegance hosted by the Forest Grove Rotary FoundationLa Strada dei Pastelli Chalk Art Festival hosted by Tualatin Valley CreatesNorth Plains Elephant Garlic Festival hosted by the North Plains Events Association, Inc.Lagerfest hosted by the Beaverton Downtown Association60th Annual Corn Roast Festival hosted by the Forest Grove Chamber of CommerceOktoberfest Forest Grove hosted by the City Club of Forest GroveWest Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta hosted by the City of Tualatin

    "These strategic investment awards celebrate events that not only inspire and engage our local community but also attract visitors to discover the unique charm and vibrant culture of Tualatin Valley, Oregon,” Dave Parulo, president and CEO of Explore Tualatin Valley, said in a release. “We are proud to support initiatives that showcase our region as a premier travel destination."

    The Tualatin Valley Inspiration Event Award offers up to $5,000 in sponsorships or support per event. Besides financial backing, Explore Tualatin Valley will promote the attractions through its channels, including its website, social media and e-newsletters.

    Eligible events must be public, located in Washington County, and organized by a non-profit 501(c) organization, confederated tribes connected to Tualatin Valley or a government entity in Washington County.

    The next application deadlines are August 31, 2024, and February 28, 2025.
