VSP investigating 2 fatal crashes late last week in SWVA
Virginia State Police is investigating 2 fatal crashes in Southwest Virginia late last week. The first occurred last Thursday around 4 p.m. on Route 611 in Washington County. That’s when the Jeep driven by 43 year old Seth A. Easley of Saltville, Va. Lost control on Route 611. Easly died at the scene. The second crash occurred last Friday at 7:00 a.m. on Interstate 81 northbound in Smyth County. A Toyota driven by 36 year old Casey A. Hornsby of Central City, KY. was heading northbound on Interstate 81 in the right lane when the driver lost control flipping the vehicle several times. Casey was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers in the Sequoia suffered minor injuries. Both crashes remain under investigation.
Thursday to be recognized as 'Dr. Enuf Day' in the county
County Commissioners are set to proclaim Thursday as “Dr. Enuf Day in Washington County.”. The recognition comes as the Tri-City Beverage Corp. celebrates the 75th anniversary this year of the soft drink being bottled in Johnson City. The proclamation reads that the local company “has grown as Johnson City has grown,” and the drink is “now more than a beloved regional brand, it is a legacy.”

Sullivan County lawmaker to speak to local Republican Women
State Rep. Bud Hulsey, R-Kingsport, will speak to the Washington County Federated Republican Women (WCFRW) at noon on Monday.
