Getaway skills unsuccessful as deputies book two speeders in Jonesborough
Two drivers on Washington County, Tennessee highways thought this was the weekend to test their getaway skills. Deputies did catch up to Steven Kotsonis, 35, of Johnson City who police said increased his speed when lights were activated. He was clocked at 116 miles per hour on Highway 11-E before pulling over near Grandview School. That added up to one count of evading arrest.
Washington County deputies say man fled at 116 mph
Washington County Sheriff's Deputies accused a Johnson City man of driving as fast as 116 mph Saturday morning on U.S. Route 11E in an effort to outrun them. Offices charged Steven Kotsonis, 35, with evading arrest on June 8, when they say they saw him speeding west on the four-lane highway.

Small plane crashes near Telford, pilot and passenger “O.K.”
The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office says a plane crashed at the Honor Flight Cruise and Fly on Saturday morning in Telford and two people were transported to an area hospital. Officials said the crash happened during the community event at Kite Field. The Honor Flight of the Appalachian Highlands said in a post that “all spectators are safe and the pilot and passenger are ok.” The Honor Flight continued following the crash. The FAA is investigating the crash along with the National Transportation Safety Board.
Officials hear plan for respite medical care at County Farm
Members of the County-Owned Property Committee heard a proposal Thursday to establish medical respite housing at Washington County’s Greenfield Farm. Also known as the County Farm, the 47-acre facility is located southwest of Jonesborough on Zeke Crawford Road. Greenfield Farm was reportedly the last “poor farm” for homeless and disabled residents operating in Tennessee.
