Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland's post-fight aspirations might include a run to Washington D.C.

Strickland lost the UFC middleweight title to Dricus du Plessis at UFC 297 earlier this year. Before that, he won the belt in a stunning upset over Israel Adesanya at UFC 293.

Strickland has blossomed into a UFC fan favorite in recent months despite some of his controversial rhetoric. His social media following and YouTube channel have both grown immensely since he first won the world title last September.

Strickland isn't afraid to speak his mind, especially when it comes to issues and hot topics related to U.S. politics. When his fighting career is over, he might make a move to campaign for a U.S. Senate seat, as he alluded to on Twitter.

Sean Strickland Teases Future U.S. Senate Run

In a pair of recent tweets, Strickland made his case to run for political office.

Strickland might have to tone it down on some of his more divisive comments if he wants to make a future run in politics. He's made controversial remarks about women, the LGBTQ+ community, and even the Russian invasion of Ukraine in recent months.

Strickland wouldn't be the only former professional MMA fighter to make the full-time move to politics. U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (OK) amassed a 3-0 professional MMA record and even challenged a witness to a fight during a senate hearing last year.

If Strickland wants to make his voice heard by the American people in mass, a U.S. Senate run could do the trick, although he has plenty left to accomplish inside the UFC Octagon.
