WASHINGTON — The 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs have officially taken over D.C., as the Washington Capitals will host the New York Rangers in Game 3 and look to start working their way back from a 2-0 series deficit.

Here is everything to know before puck drop at Capital One Arena.

    Washington Capitals Injury Report

    - Nick Jensen is still out for Game 3. He has been making progress as he works his way back from an upper-body injury and shed the non-contact jersey on Friday. He was stretchered off the ice on April 13 against the Tampa Bay Lightning after a heavy hit into the boards from forward Michael Eyssimont.

    - Rasmus Sandin is also out for Friday after being hurt on a big hit by Parker Kelly back on April 7 against the Ottawa Senators. He upgraded to contact on Friday.

    - Vincent Iorio is out and listed day-to-day with an upper-body injury after being hit into the boards in Game 1 by Alexis Lafreniere. He has not skated since taking the ice in a non-contact jersey back on Tuesday.

    - Nicklas Backstrom remains on indefinite leave after stepping away from the game of hockey in November with his hip not responding as he'd hoped following hip resurfacing surgery in June 2022.

    Washington Capitals Storylines

    - Tom Wilson leads the Capitals with three points through the first two games of the playoffs.

    - Dylan Strome and Connor McMichael also scored on Tuesday.

    - Alex Ovechkin is looking to turn it on after being limited to just one shot through first two games of the series against the Rangers.

    - T.J. Oshie took a hard hit from Artemi Panarin last game, so look for Washington get more physical and gritty.
