CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – All good things come to an end.

Carlos Carrasco allowed five runs in four innings and the Nationals ended the Guardians nine-game home win streak by salvaging the finale of the three-game weekend series with a 5-2 win Sunday afternoon at Progressive Field.

Here’s the top news and notes from the finale with the Nationals.

Cookie crumbles – Carrasco suffered his fifth loss of the season after Washington did their damage in the top of the second inning when they scored four runs and collected five hits.

Schneemann debut – Infielder/outfielder Daniel Schneemann was called up Sunday and made his big-league debut. The 27-year-old played second base and hit eighth. “I tried just taking the same approach that it would've in any other game,” Schneemann said. “I definitely had some nerves, but yeah, just trying to keep the same approach that has given me success this year and so I'm glad it worked out.” Schneemann collected his first hit in his first at-bat on the first pitch, a two-run double to right in the bottom of the second that cut the Nationals’ lead in half, 4-2. “It was awesome, really cool to see him out there,” Vogt said. “It was a great day for him, his family and for us. And to come out first pitch, you ever see a two run double? That's pretty special. And hit another ball hard to center, made all the plays. So it was a great day for Snee obviously. I wish we could have capped it off with a win, but we're excited that he's here.”

Scoreless streaking – Following Carrasco’s departure, four Guardians relievers – Sam Hentges, Nick Sandlin, Tim Herrin and Pedro Avila – combined to throw five scoreless innings, stretching the bullpens scoreless innings streak to 19 1/3 innings.  “These guys stop the game,” Vogt said. “They do it. They come in and they find a way. They're nasty, they're cold. Sam came in and gave us two huge innings. We needed those. And the rest of the guys were phenomenal as well.”

Break for Gimenez – Second baseman Andres Gimenez has been out of the lineup the last two days after he felt “some soreness” following Friday night’s game. Vogt gave Gimenez Saturday and Sunday off to rest. “He’s not very happy with me today just because I encouraged him to take another day with the off day tomorrow, three days in a row so that he'd be feeling really good to go,” Vogt said. “He's available just like he was [Saturday] off the bench. But we all know how hard [Gimenez] plays and I don't want him to have to sacrifice that and do something to jeopardize the rest of the season. Like I said, he's not real happy with me today, but I just think in the long run, this is what's best for him and for us.”

Roster moves – The Guardians activated Carrasco off the 15-day IL to make Sunday’s start. The team also placed right hander Eli Morgan on the 15-day IL with right elbow inflammation. “He came out of his outing in Colorado, which he stepped up and was huge for us, he felt a little something in the back of his elbow,” Vogt said. “We are still sorting through with the doctors, so it's just unfortunate for him and little elbow inflammation.” Outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez was sent back to AAA Columbus and Schneemann was called up and will serve a similar role as Fry. “I enjoy moving around,” Schneemann said. “I really don't mind where I play. My goal is just to get in the lineup, help the team win any way I can. So yeah, I've really just embraced it. I enjoy moving around working in different positions. It's been fun.”

Up next – Off day Monday. The Royals arrive Tuesday for a three-game series.
