Washington Post CEO Will Lewis is putting down D.C. roots with the recent purchase of a multimillion-dollar Georgetown home, Axios has learned.

The big picture: Lewis is the talk of the town following an uproar at the Post over former executive editor Sally Buzbee 's recent departure, the announcement of a new editorial structure , and reports of Lewis attempting to meddle in editorial coverage about him.

State of play: Lewis and his wife , Rebecca, recently dropped over $7 million on a six-bedroom, seven-bathroom house in Georgetown, per D.C. property records.

The home, originally built in 1900, is over 5,000 square feet with a wood-burning fireplace, a large landscaped yard, a terrace, and garage parking for three cars, per the listing.

    • Also included: A lower level with a rec room and media area.

Catch up quick: According to multiple reports, Lewis tried to pressure Buzbee not to run stories about his alleged ties to the British phone-hacking scandal over a decade ago.

    • A spokesperson for Lewis denied this to NPR , saying, "That is not true. That is not what happened."
    • And last week, NPR reported that Lewis offered an exclusive interview if the outlet dropped a story about the allegations.

The intrigue: Lewis' home was the second-most-expensive home sale in D.C. last month, per data from Bright MLS.

    • A Washington Post spokesperson declined to comment on the purchase, and as of publication, Lewis had not returned Axios' request for comment.
