New D.C. shop lets you DIY candles and charm bracelets

There's a new Union Market shop where you can DIY your own candles and charm bracelets.

Why it matters: Hot weather = prime indoor activity season.

The big picture: District Candle Lab is D.C.'s only make-your-own candle bar.

    • The store was launched by Ferzan Jaeger, who's behind the Kensington gift shop Olive & Loom and the local candle company Kin & Care .

How it works: Create your own custom candle fragrance by mixing and matching options from a "scent wall," then choose a container and head to the store's candle bar to make your soy wax creation alongside one of the store's candle pros.

Plus: Create your own charm necklaces with charms from Jaeger's jewelry line, Fawne .

    • Gifts and home goods are for sale in the store, too.

District Candle Lab is located in Union Market at 1325 5th St. NE, Suite F.

    • It's open from 11am to 6pm, Tuesday-Sunday.
