    Man killed in shooting near park in Southeast DC, police investigating

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Police said they were investigating the death of a man whom they found shot near the Anacostia Park Roller Skating Pavilion in Southeast on the Fourth of July.

    Someone flagged down members of the United States Park Police in the 1500 block of Anacostia Dr. SE around 8:45 p.m. about a shooting.

    According to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), officers found 46-year-old Donald Hawkins of Southeast near the park with multiple gunshot wounds. He died there.

    MPD encouraged anyone with information about what led to the shooting to call (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
