WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — D.C. police said agents with the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau were investigating after two United States Marshals shot someone early Friday morning.
Around 1:15 a.m., the Deputy United States Marshals were parked in two vehicles in the 2100 block of 11th Street, Northwest. That’s when 18-year-old Kentrell Flowers, of Southeast, got out of the car and approached one of the Marshals, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Police said Flowers took out a handgun and pointed it at one of the Marshals in an attempt to carjack them. The Marshal pulled out his gun and fired several shots at Flowers. The second U.S. Marshal from the second car responded and also opened fire.
Flowers was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the U.S. Marshals were not hurt in the incident.
Flowers was charged with the following:
Armed Carjacking
Carrying a Pistol without a License
Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device
Police confirmed the gun, shown in the picture below, was recovered from the scene.
