    Bastille Day celebrations around D.C.

Bastille Day is Sunday and lots of places around D.C. are celebrating la fête nationale .

Why it matters: France's national day is big here, given all the expats and great French restaurants.

Things to do Sunday (unless noted otherwise):

🎶 Josephine (Old Town): The nouveau bistro is throwing a family-friendly soirée in their Rosé Garden with face painting, balloon twisting, live violin music, and specials (10am-6pm).

👯‍♂️ Le Mont Royal (Adams Morgan): The French-Canadian " disco/bistro " is hosting a disco-pop party with BOGO bottles of Champagne and French rosé, cocktail and food specials, and DJ tunes from 4pm to 8pm (specials go all night).

🐌 Petite Cerise (Shaw): This cheffy Bastille Day party includes a complimentary Kir Royal and unlimited French aperitif punch. Plus oysters, jambon beurre foot-longs and pours from some fun French magnums.

    • Tickets ($75) are available for 2.5-hour windows between 4pm and 10pm.

🦪 Chez Billy Sud (Georgetown): Head to the bistro and adjoining Bar à Vin for a party with free live jazz from Bon Vivants, themed cocktails, jambon beurre sandwiches, and oysters.

    • No tickets or reservations required (2-10pm).

🍷 The Eastern (Capitol Hill): The wine bar is hosting a Bastille Day Wine Class starting at 1 pm.

    • Tickets ($50) include French wines and snacks.

🍽️ Central (Downtown): No time on Sunday? The classic French spot (closed Sundays) is celebrating " Bastille Week " with specials running Monday (July 15) through Saturday.
