Colorado’s Travis Hunter projected to Washington Commanders at No. 9 overall in 2025 NFL Draft

The nation’s capital as the home to one of the most versatile college football players in recent memory seems like a fitting match, but much like the politics that define Washington D.C. there’s still some doubt as to what side of the ball Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter could end up on.

Bleacher Report’s latest 2025 mock draft has Hunter headed to the Washington Commanders at No. 9 overall after he earned All-American honors and was the Paul Hornung Award winner in 2023.

From Bleacher Report: “Hunter could be the first cornerback selected and still not technically be depending on how an organization projects him at the next level. Some may view him as a wide receiver prospect. In this instance, the Washington Commanders can use him both ways, though primarily on defense.”

Hunter spent his first college football season at Jackson State and followed head coach Deion Sanders to Colorado. He’s also one of the highest-paid college football players in the country (and the most marketable) with an estimated annual NIL value of $2.6 million and a spot on the cover of the EA Sports College Football 25 video game.
