ARLINGTON, Va. ( DC News Now ) — As Delta Airlines struggles to recover from the global technology outage that impacted tons of people and businesses — especially travel — the number of bags at Reagan National Airport is growing.

Travelers, who were first told their flights were delayed or canceled, have had to retrieve luggage at DCA amidst a growing pile.

What is CrowdStrike, the company whose faulty update caused widespread outages?

Among the travelers who spoke with DC News Now: Jordan Montgomery, who had to stay in Raleigh, N.C. for a night due to her connecting flight being canceled, and then had to get her suitcase from DCA the next day.

“The flight was canceled and I had to book a hotel that same day,” she said.

Montgomery was able to find her bag, though not everyone was as lucky.

One Alexandrian told DC News Now she was picking up her boyfriend’s, and his family’s, luggage.

“My boyfriend and his son and his extended family, their flight was canceled last night from Minneapolis,” she said. “They couldn’t get a flight out for probably another two days. All the trains, buses, everything was booked up. So they are now driving from Minneapolis and their luggage just arrived today.”

She was able to get two of the three suitcases and said overall the Delta employees had been nice and helpful during the ordeal.

Throughout Tuesday, those same employees were moving, aligning and organizing bags and suitcases waiting to be retrieved by their owners.

“It’s crazy,” Satarie Bennett said. “I’ve never seen anything like this before.”
