WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The U.S. Botanic Garden is highlighting local organizations enriching their communities through plants. The four organizations being showcased are Building Bridges Across the River , City Blossoms , The Green Scheme , and Washington Parks & People.

Devin Dotson, Senior Communications Specialist at U.S. Botanic Garden says the exhibit is a great way for people to learn about the unique things these local organizations are doing through beautiful displays.

“We function a lot at the national and international level being the Nation’s Botanic Garden, but it’s fun to shine a spotlight on some local organizations as well,” said Dotson.

One of the displays features a 30-foot replica of the future 11th Street Bridge Park and a recreation of the stream and park in D.C. that inspired Marvin Gaye’s music.

The installation, “Cultivate: Growing Food in Urban Gardens” will be on display in front of the conservatory through October.
