    DC Fire and EMS respond to car fire near Watergate Hotel

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — DC Fire and EMS crews were at the scene of a car fire near the Watergate Hotel on Friday evening.

    Officials arrived at the nearby highway just after 6:45 p.m. In a post on the X platform, the department said its Fire Operations Center was working closely with the Metropolitan Police Department and Secret Service to coordinate access are share information due to increased road closures in the area.

    DC protests, road closures continue into fourth day

    DC Fire and EMS said Engine 23 was working with Truck 2 and extinguished the fire by 7:45 p.m. No injuries were reported and a fire investigator was requested to the scene.

    Nearby streets had been closed or restricted due to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stay at the Watergate Hotel and visit to D.C. He left the District late Thursday night or early Friday morning.
