Three killed in 3 different D.C. shootings over the weekend

A man was shot and killed early Monday in Northeast, ending a violent weekend in the District that saw two other people slain in separate incidents and at least three more wounded in a fourth shooting attack.

The spasm of bloodshed came days after a hectic 24-hour period last week where two men were killed and nine people injured in seven different shootings across the city.

No arrests have been made in any of this weekend's killings.

Metropolitan Police said in a statement last week that violent crime is currently 12% lower than what it was in 2019 — the year before a pandemic-era crime wave swept through the District, peaking in 2023 being the deadliest year since the late 1990s.

Major crimes are down 34% from last year's apex, but violence has predictably risen back up during the summer months.

That trend continued Monday when police said a man was shot dead at about 2:45 a.m. on the 3500 block of Ames Street Northeast.

Authorities said they're withholding more details about the man's killing until they verify his identity and notify his next of kin.

The deadly Northeast shooting took place about 12 hours after a brief barricade situation unfolded in Southeast.

Police said officers arrived at the 3200 block of 28th Street Southeast just before 2:45 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a shooting.

Units at the scene first prepared for a standoff, but officers quickly discovered the body of 44-year-old Bobby Addison of Southeast.

MPD said the victim died from multiple bullet wounds.

Police described the suspect as a dark-skinned Black male who was last seen wearing a dark burgundy shirt and black shorts.

The third deadly shooting erupted Friday night near the Truxton Circle neighborhood.

Police said officers rushed to the 300 block of N Street Northwest at about 10:30 p.m. while responding to sounds of gunfire.

Authorities said they arrived to find Trent Davis, 37, of Northwest, lying motionless and suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hours later, shots rang out about a block north of the bustling U Street Corridor.

MPD said officers found two women with gunshot wounds and a man who was injured by flying glass shortly before 3:30 a.m. Saturday on the 2100 block of 8th Street Northwest.

Police said they're looking for a Black man between the ages of 25-30, who was last seen wearing a white shirt with a blue Nike swoosh on it.

All the victims in that incident are expected to survive.
