    DC police: Man robs, assaults victim with metal pipe

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — D.C. police said they are looking for a man who assaulted somebody with a metal pipe and then robbed them in Northwest.

    The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers responded to the 800 block of G Street Wednesday at around 2:40 a.m.

    MPD said the suspect walked up to the victim and asked for a cigarette and money. When the victim tried to walk away, the suspect used a metal pipe to assault the victim and then took their things.

    DC Fire and EMS treated the victim at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

    Anyone who can identify the victim or has information about the armed robbery is asked to call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411.

    A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and indictment of those involved.
