Nationals surprisingly already called favorite to land Dodgers All-Star

The 2024 Major League Baseball season still has a few months to go.

It has been an exciting season so far and there surely will be some more exciting moments before it is all said and done. The Major League Baseball trade deadline just recently passed and the next big thing will be the fight for the playoffs.

After that, the next big thing people will talk about is free agency. Like every other offseason, there surely will be some star power on the move. One team that could use a boost in the middle of the order certainly is the Washington Nationals.

Washington has taken a step forward this season and could make another leap in 2025 with another power bat in the middle of the lineup. It's too early to predict where players will land, but Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer already called the Nationals the favorite to land Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star slugger Teoscar Hernández.

"Hernández will have to pull out of the funk that has seen him crank only five homers for the Dodgers dating back to June 12, though," Rymer said. "If he does, the contract that he was projected for last winter prior to signing for one year and $23.5 million should be in play.

"The same teams that make sense for (Tyler O'Neill) also make sense for Hernández, but I'm going to default to the maximum fun pick with the Nationals. It's about time Washington spent again, and signing Hernández would be an ideal boost for an offense that ranks last in (Major League Baseball) in homers."

Hernández has had an overall great season for the Dodgers and has 24 home runs and 73 RBIs through 111 games played. That type of production earned him his second All-Star nod and would be great in Washington's batting order.
