Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department to receive federal grant
The Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department will receive a $243,873.63 federal grant. The funds, through the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program, can be used for professional training, wellness and fitness programs, equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE) and modifications to facilities, according to a July 17 news release from the office of U.S. Sen. Man killed in Valdosta apartment shooting
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - A man was killed in an early Thursday morning shooting in Valdosta. Around 3:30 a.m. on July 18, Valdosta police officers were called to the Park Chase Apartments to a report of a person being shot. Officers say when they got to the scene they found a 32-year-old man in the stairwell with a gunshot to his torso.
