Baby girl placed in police protective custody after being found in canal
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - An 11-month-old girl was placed in protective custody after she was found in the canal near Mt. Vernon and I-135 on Tuesday. The Wichita Police Department said that officers were dispatched to a welfare check in the area and found the child in the canal. The child was rescued from the canal with the help of the Wichita Fire Department and was taken to get checked out at a hospital.
Missouri woman arrested in Hays for DUI after crashing into vehicle
Hays Police officers reported witnessing an allegedly intoxicated driver traveling in the wrong direction before colliding with a parked vehicle. At about 10:23 p.m., officers observed a black sedan traveling southbound in the opposite direction on a one-way street at the 800 block of Ash St., according to Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler.
Teen enters plea in shooting death of Wichita boy at Towne East Square
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A teenager has pleaded no contest in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy inside a Wichita mall in 2022. The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said 18-year-old Te'bryis Robinson on Tuesday pleaded no contest to second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery. He was originally charged with first-degree murder and criminal use of a weapon by a juvenile in the killing of killing of TrenJ'vious Hutton at Towne East Square on March 18, 2022.
