WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) — It’s hurricane season in Eastern North Carolina and this recent rain could be a preview of what’s to come.

Washington Fire-Rescue-EMS has been training in their new rescue boats to make sure they’re ready to go.

“We train a lot. We’re going to be in these boats, will also be used if other cities in the area need us, they’ll be able to call us,” Washington Fire Chief R.M. Flowers said. “As long as we’re not inundated with water or flood-prone areas, they’ll be able to call us and we’ll be able to go to their cities and help them as well.”
