Tired of summer yet? Longing for the cold, snowy grip of winter to return? Look no further than to our friends in Washington state.
49 Degrees North, a ski resort located in northeast Washington, recorded fresh snowfall on Monday, June 3, 2024. Check out the photo below of snow dusting the ski area's Chewelah Peak.

Chewelah is the tallest of 49 Degrees North's two peaks, standing 5,774 feet above sea level, a respectable stature for a non-volcanic peak in the Pacific Northwest.
The ski area didn't get enough snow to revert back to winter operations, but even just a coating of snow during the first week of June is something to celebrate.
49 Degrees North doesn't offer traditional summer operations or accommodations, but the mountain is open for the public to hike, pick berries, or mountain bike through the season. Lifts will not spin again until Winter '24/'25 is ready to get underway.

Elsewhere in the region, Timberline Lodge, Oregon, one of only two ski resorts still open in the entire country, is closed today, June 4th, 2024 due to "inclement weather". The resort made the announcement via social media.
Timberline hasn't explicitly defined the weather challenges, but a quick glance at their webcams shows heavy rain and dense fog coating the mountain. See below.

It's a little wet at Timberline today, but there's still plenty of snow to go around. The resort will remain open throughout the summer, as expected, with slushy laps on the Palmer snowfield until the last drop melts.
Timberline intends on reopening tomorrow, June 5th, once the adverse weather clears.
