KIRO 7 has called a Pinpoint Alert for Friday through Monday due to the incoming heatwave.

We’re off to a calm start Thursday with clear skies and mild temperatures.

It will be sunny with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

The wind will be light, around 5-15 mph out of the north. This is perfect for fireworks, parades, or anything else you have planned for our holiday.

It gets hotter Friday through the weekend, with plenty of 80s and even 90s by Saturday and Sunday just off the water from near Seattle south and the Cascades.

Sunday’s heat will peak for many, with my high forecast of 93 degrees in Seattle setting a daily record high for the date (the old record was 90 degrees in 2010).

We have a Heat Advisory from tomorrow at noon through Monday at 10 p.m.

It’s a great time to remember friends and family who might not have access to a way to cool off. Also, drink plenty of water!

The first 90-degree day in Seattle has an average date of July 3, so it will occur only slightly behind schedule. Last year’s first 90° at Sea-Tac was on July 5.

Throughout the start of the heat wave, the Pacific beaches will be cooler—in the 60s and 70s on Friday but in the 80s in spots on Saturday and Sunday.

The heat will back off a bit early next week, but it could be almost as warm in many spots on Monday.

We appear to definitely be in a summer weather pattern now, with plenty of sun, little to no rain, and warm temperatures at least through mid-July. Fire danger will be increasing.
